Inktober 2025 is right around the corner, and I am noticing quite a few of us out there wondering how we will set up for this year's session. Well, look no further, as our next class will provide instruction on how to make your own hardcover book in which to draw each day's challenge. The pages in the book are made using mixed media paper and are 5" x 5" in size, giving you plenty of room for your creations, while remaining compact and easy to carry anywhere with you. Please don't be concerned about difficulty here.... I will guide you step by step. It's all very easy and loads of fun! ITEMS NEEDED FOR THE CLASS   CUT MATERIALS (In the interest of time, you are asked to please have all your materials cut and ready prior to the class) o   Nine (9) strips of mixed media paper or heavy card stock cut to 5” L x 10.25” W o   Two (2) squares of medium weight chipboard cut to 5” L x 5” W o   One (1) strip of medium weight chipboard cut to 5" L x .25" W o   Two (2) squares of decorative paper cut to 6" L x 6" W (for the outside cover) o   Two (2) strips of complimentary paper to the above item cut to 5” L x 10” W (this is for the inside cover) o   One (1) strip of complimentary paper to the above two items cut to 6” L x 2.5” W (for spine cover) o   One (1) strip of plain white cardstock cut to 5" L x 2.5" W o   Scrap piece of thin white cotton or linen cloth cut to 5" L x 2.25" W   OTHER NECESSARY MATERIALS o   Box cutter or craft knife (make sure it's sharp!) o   Ruler (preferably metal) o   Awl o   Scissors o   White sewing thread (cotton or linen works best) o   Sewing needle large enough to run two strands of thread through the needle o   Mod Podge, Fabri-Tac, or your favorite glue (Mod Podge is easiest to work with and holds well) o   1” foam or bristle paint brush to spread glue o   Sheets of scrap paper like old magazine pages, paper you plan to recycle... even wax paper will do. (Anything except newspaper)   NOT NECESSARY BUT HELPFUL o   Paper clips and/or binder clips o   Beeswax for your thread o   Bone folder o   Piece of corrugated cardboard taller or wider than five inches o   Small flat bristle paint brush (mine is .25" wide) o   Plastic sandwich bag to keep your brushes from drying up o   2" of quarter-inch wide ribbon o   Thin (no more that 2mm thick) cord like that shown in the video for cover strap o   Extra pieces of craft paper that complement the overall design and color scheme. These could be craft paper containing butterflies, flowers, plants, lace, etc.  I like creating a vintage appearance to my books, so I always look for “vintage-like” craft paper with items like invoices, post cards, library cards, lined paper, theater tickets, etc. o   Distress ink and applicator (only if you are wanting to create a vintage look to your book)

Spring is in the air with flowers blooming! In this case, it's with colorful dew-covered Coneflower Daisies set in a Zentangle® garden.
